If you want to increase awareness of The Trades Report, you may want to send an email about it to students and parents:

Hello [Parents/Guardians or Students]:

We wanted to make you aware of a newsletter called The Trades Report that we post on [wherever your school posts the newsletter]. This resource provides helpful information as your student prepares for a career in the trades.

The Trades Report posts information on how to explore trades, including details on the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) and other available high school programs as well as current Labour Market Information (LMI). The Report also posts upcoming events that highlight careers in the skilled trades. The Trades Report provides awareness on current financial incentives including grants, bursaries, free pre-apprentice training programs, etc., and includes direct links to websites with relevant information.

Accessing The Trades Report:
1. To access The Trades Report, click [your school’s link to log in to access The Trades Report].
2. The password you will need for access: [your school’s log-in information, i.e., username/password].
3. Keep track of new postings using the Posting Schedule HERE.

OTHER IDEAS ON HOW YOU CAN LET STUDENTS & PARENTS KNOW ABOUT THE TRADES REPORT

You may want to post about The Trades Report on your Guidance page, or another page that pertains to the Trades. Boards may want to include information about it on their website under Secondary School Resources. Let your school community know where they can find either The Trades Report, or password and link to The Trades Report, with the following:

  • “The Trades Report is posted on myBlueprint.”
  • “The Trades Report is posted in Google classroom.”
  • “You may retrieve the password for access to The Trades Report from the Guidance Department.”
  • “The password for access to The Trades Report is posted on myBlueprint.”
  • “The password for access to The Trades Report is posted on _______.”
  • “The password for access to The Trades Report has been sent in an email.” *
